I’m drawn to painting landscapes with a “big sky” perspective, where the horizon sits low and the atmosphere takes center stage. The expanse above becomes the emotional heartbeat of the piece. The shifting light, soft clouds and subtle color create a sense of openness and calm. Through loose, expressive brushwork, I am to capture not just a place, but the quiet feeling of standing beneath something vast and beautiful. Elizabeth 4 is named after one of my long-time friends from NCSU. The real Elizabeth lives in Raleigh, NC and I am lucky to see her often.
